Her book: "a brand new start … this is home" - The Legacy of Marin City

In 1990, Felecia Gaston founded Performing Stars of Marin, now a Marin institution working with Marin’s underserved youth to build pride, character, discipline and self-esteem through exposure and participation in enrichment programs. Performing Stars has served more than 4500 youth in its 34 years, and many have become productive and successful in a variety of professional careers.  She has continued as Executive Director.  More recently, she founded the Marin City Historical and Preservation Society

She has been a freelance writer for San Francisco black owned newspapers, and has served as a guest editorial board member for the Marin Independent Journal.

Ms. Gaston is a self-published author with publications including Grandmothers Feed Us Love: Celebrating the Legacy of Marin City's Grandmothers through Cherished Recipes and Photos and her most recent book, the subject of her presentation, A Brand New Start . . . This Is Home, that documents Marin City's origins as a shipbuilding community during WWII to the present day.
